7 ~ & =i Pic Heron Bay Band of Indians By-Law No. 8 Being a By-Law to provide for the control of dogs WHEREAS Section 81 of the Indian Act, subsections (c) (d) (q) and (r) grant certain powers to Band Councils, and whereas it is deemed expedient to supplement the Indian Reserve dog regulations: NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Pic Heron Bay Band of Indians enacts a by-law as follows: 1. All dogs shall be chained, and confined, or otherwise kept under control at all times. 2. Any person allowing a dog to run at large after suitable notice from either the Council of the Band or the dog registration officer shall be liable to a fine of not more than $10.00 (ten dollars) 3. A household shall be limited to two dogs only. 4. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 3, a band member may keep not more than five (5) work dogs free of any fee provided they are chained in a suitable enclosure when not in use, and that the owner has satified the Band Council that the dogs are necessary for work purposes. 5. A household shall obtain a permit as per Section 3 for each dog and a fee shall be charged, Male, and Spaded Female dog $2.00 Female dog- $8.00- the amount establisehed by the Band Council. 6. The provisions of any previously enacted by-law that are in­ consistent with this by-law are herevy repealed. Approved and passed a duly convened meeting of the Council of the Pic Heron Bay Indian Band this 12th day of July 1978.
