Being a By-Law respecting intoxication and the use of intoxi ra o t « on the Reserve of the Kasabonika Lake Band of Indians WHEREAS, subsection 85.1(1) of the Ind1an Act, R.S.C. 1970, Chapter 1-6 (as amended), empowers the Council of the K o o a b o n i It a La k o B and to mo k o Bv-Ï wiw t i n g intoxication and the use of intoxicants on the Reserve of the Kasabonika Lake Band and; WHEREAS, pursuant to subsection 85.1(2) of the Indian Act, the form and substance of the By-Law set out below were t o h y t h e m a j o r i t y o £ the e l e c t o r s of the Kasabonika Lake Band who voted at â special meeting of the Band on the 14th Day of June, 1989, called by the Council of the Kasahonika Lake Band for the purpose of considering the said By-Law, and; W î I L R L A 0 , the C o u n c i l of the kaaaboniko Lake B and c o *1 o i 4 c r o necessary special measures for the protection of the citizens of the Reserve of the Kasabonika Lake Band from the presence of intoxicants;
(2) NOW TdERF.FOR K , pursuant to section 85.1 of the I_nd i.an_ Ac the r> f- t* Çi v & By-Law thereof as follows; [ . In this Bv-Î,a w : "i n t oxicant" means "intoxicant" as it is defined under subsection 2(1) of the Indian Ac t , and for greater certainty and without altering the meaning of "intoxicant", it shall he deemed to include the following preparations and mixture capable of human consumption that are 1ntoxicating; i. glue and the vapours thereof, ii. "Lysol" and other similar cleaning products and the vapours thereof,and; iii. gasoline and gasoline-based products and the vapours thereof ; "tourist" means a person not. normally resident on the reserve of the Kasabonika Lake Band who is travelling for recreation, pleasure or culture and who is a guest of a tourist camp operated by the Kasabonika Lake Band off the reserve of Kasabonika Lake Band. . A person who sells, barters, supplies or manufactures an intoxicant on the reserve of the Kasabonika Lake Band is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to the penalty described in paragraph 85.1(4) (a) of the Indian Act, namely, a fine of not more than one thousand dollars or i imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both.

Ballot was by Show of Hands, and; Whereas, at a Special Meeting of Council held on July 7, 1 0 8 0 , the f o l l o w i n g Rc-ûôlutioD was disc u $cAii a n ri approved. Tt Is Hereby Resolved: That, it was the will of the People of the Kasabonika Lake First Nation on November 20, 1985, and; That, it is still the will of the People of Kasabonika hake that the Chief and Council of the Kasabonika Lake Firai Nation rc-pass and approve the attached Bylaw 85-1, prohibiting the use and possession of intoxicants. ! 0 > 1 Æ ! d s
