SoRjvz-jU /v?w BIG COVE INDIAN BAND / BY-LAW NO. 1 - 1982 Being a by-law to provide for the.regulation of activities of boys and girls on the Big Cove Indian Reserve actually or apparently under sixteen (16) years of age. (amends by-law 1) Whereas paragraphs (c), (d), (q) and (r) of Section 81 of the Indian Act empowers the Council of an Indian Band to make by-laws for: (i) the observance of law and order; (ii) the prevention of disorderly conduct and nuisances; (iii) with respect to any matter arising out of or ancillary to the exercise of powers under this section; (iv) the imposition on summary conviction of a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars or imprisonment for a term not exceeding thirty days or both for violation of a by-law made under this section, And whereas, the Council of the Big Cove Band of Indians did enact by-law number one (1) with respect to the regulation of activities of boys and girls on the Big Cove Indian Reserve actually or apparently under sixteen (16) years of age; And whereas, the said Council deems it to be expedient and in the best interest of the residents of the Big Cove Indian Reserve to amend the said by-law; Now therefore, the Council of the Big Cove Band of Indians enacts as a by-law thereof as follows: 1. Section (a) of by-law 1 be and the same is hereby amended by complete deletion andinserting the following, so that the said section shall read: (a) No boy or girl on the Big Cove Indian Reserve actually or apparently under 16 years of age, shall loiter any place within the said Indian Reserve, from the period September to June inclusive, after ten o'clock in the afternoon, and for the period July to August inclusive, after eleven o'clock in the afternoon. 2. Section (b) of by-law be and the same in hereby amended by complete deletion and inserting the following so that the said section shall read: (b) No boy or girl on the Big Cove Indian Reserve actually or apparently under 16 years of age, shall be in any place or entertainment, street lane, by-way or common within the said Reserve or shall be in the course of returning from any place of entertainment off said Reserve from the period September to June inclusive, after ten o'clock in the afternoon, and from the period July to August inclusive, after . . .2
