i j O j b i x A c iO D ** o a 3 X I A d O O A iJO O . i O b 3 X 0 « 3 X ( ( WALPOLE ISLAND BAND OF INDIANS THE COUNCIL of the Walpole Island Band of Indians, at a meeting held on the 12th.:day of October, A.D. 1965, reached the following by-law pursuant to Section SO (q) of the Indian Act; BY-LAW #13 A BY-LAW to provide for the appointment of Police Constables to enforce the by-laws of the Walpole Island Band of Indians, apd to perform other duties pertaining to such office. WHEREAS it is necessary to appoint constables for the Walpole Island Band of Indians to enforce all Band by-laws, and to carry out such other'duties as may be assigned by Council. BE IT ENACTED as a by-law of the Walpole Island Band of Indians as follows: 1. That the position of Police Constable is hereby created and the employment of two persons to fill the duties of such office is hereby authorised, 2. That the said position shall be filled by the Council of the Walpole' Island Band of Indians from time^A by Resolution. ' 3 . That the employment of any person in such position may be terminated by such person or by said Council at any time during the first year of such employment, on the giving of one week's notice, and thereafter on the giving of one month's notice. 4. The duties of the polp.ce constables shall include the enforcement of all by-laws of the Council ¥ \
; a c j o d » O H 3 X of the Walpole Island Band of Indians, the performance of the duties of a School Attendance Officer and such other duties as may he assigned, from time to time, by . said Council within its power and authority. 5. Any person appointed to the position of Police Constable shall accept such training as may be directed by said Council, and during such period of training shall be entitled to receive remuneration at the regular rate, and expenses necessarily incurred in connection with such training. 6. Each Police Constable shall receive the sum of Three Thousand Six Hundred ($>3600.00) Dollars per year, payable weekly; provided however, that the said Council may from time to time, by Resolution, vary such rate of reremuneration. 7. Any Police Constable shall turn over to the Walpole Island Band of Indians, any monies received by him in consideration of services as School Attendance Officer or as witness, or otherwise, and shall receive only the remuneration hereinbefore specified. S. Each Police Constable shall be allowed an amount of money by way of mileage allowance for any distance necessarily driven in sccordance with the performance of his duties as may. from time to time be allowed by said Council. 9. Before entering on the duties of his office, every person appointed as a Police Constable shall take and subscribe the following..oath, namely:
