August 36,1976 By-law 001 DOMESTIC DOG CONTROL ON THE BEAR ISLAND RESERCE L- All dogs must be tied. 2- Dogs must be on a leash when on Public raeds and other Public Property :-3- The person controlling the leashed must be 14 years old or have permission o§ the Band Council 4- Owners of the dogs not tied or running at large will be in formed that their dog must be tied within 24 hrs-Failure to do so will result in an order to destroy the dog, signed by the Cheif & Council. A person will carry out the order therein prescribed. 5- The person who feels their dog should not be destroyed may present in writing their position to the Council* Following this, the decision readied by the Council will be final. 6- The sum of $15.00 will be paid for each dog destroyed, after the dog id buried at the designated spat-Funds to come out of Band Funds. 7- Guns used in destroying the dog mudt be o<§ 30-30 calibre and over in rifle, 16or ;12 gauge shotgun and a. 38 calibre in hand gun. 8- Owners can inform Council if they want their do g destroyed. 9- Band Council will not pay dog owner to shoot their own dog. . 10- Tied dogs MUST NOT BE ANY CLOSER THAN 6$ FEET TO THE SHORE'? LINE OF THE ISLAND OR TO A CREEK RUNNING OFF THE ISLAND. Cubsection (R) of Section 81 of the Indian Act states that 3 he imposition, on summary conviction, of a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars or imprisonment for a. term not exceeding thirty days or both, for a violation of a bylaw made under this section.
