I The Council of the Six Nations of the Grand River Band of Indians at a meeting held this Second day of August, 1962, make the following by-law pursuant to paragraph (b) and paragraph (r) of Section SO of the Indian Act. By-Law No. 19 A by-law limiting the weight of vehicles passing over bridges on Six Nations Indian Reserve. 1. In this by-law (a) "Council" means the Council of the Six Nations of the Grand River Band of Indians; (b) "bridge" means a bridge referred to in paragraph 2 hereof; (c) "bridge inspector" means a person appointed by the Council to erect and maintain signs at the approaches to a bridge; (d) "vehicle" means any wagon, cart, motor car, motor truck, semi-trailer truck, trailer, traction engine, tractor, road-making machinery or other conveyance that is driven, propelled or drawn by any kind of power but does not include a motorcycle or bicycle. 2. No person shall drive or move or permit or cause to be driven or moved a vehicle upon or over any of the following bridges when the weight of the vehicle or the combined weight of the vehicle and load is in excess of ten thousand (10,000) pounds: Spring Creek Bridge No. 4 on Road No. 137, in Lot w, between Concession 2 and 3, in the Township of Oneida, in the County of Haldimand; Boston Creek Bridge No. 4» °n Road No. 263, between Lots 6 and 7, in Concession 3, in the Township of Tuscarora, in the County of Brant; McKenzie Creek Bridge No. 8, on Road No. 256, situate between Lot 24 and Lot 25, River Range, inithe Townshi > of Tuscarora, in the County Brant ; McKenzie Greek Bridge No. 9, on Road No. 266, situate between Lot 6, in Concession 6, in the Township of Tuscarora, in the County of Brant, and Lot 13, River Range, in the Township of Tuscarora, in the County of Brant. 3. No more than one vehicle at a time shall be driven or moved upon or over any bridge; 4. The bridge inspector shall erect and maintain a sign indicating the restriction imposed by this by-law in a conspicuous place at least 100 feet from each end of the bridge. tip 1 !c 6Sl ! ; ' :Ji! 5. No person shall remove or deface or attempt to remove or deface any sign erected by the bridge inspector.
6. A Peace Officer may at any time stop and cause to be weighed any vehicle or any vehicle and load that attempts to oass over or has passed over a bridge and for that purpose may require that the vehicle be driven to the nearest scales. 7. Where the neares scales are closed for the night the vehicle may be detained by the Peace Officer until the re-ooening of the scales on the following morning. 8. No action lies against a Peace Officer or the Council for less or damages suffered by any person resulting from the enforcement of, or compliance with, sections 6 and 7 hereof. 9. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this by-law shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), or imprisonment for a term
