Regis Reserve No. l£ and Cornwall Island Reserve No* î>9 . 1 . In th is By-Law (a) "Council” ire ans the Council o f the Iroquois o f S t . Regis Band o f Indians; and (b) "Reserve" means the Akwesasne S t . Regis Indian R eserve. (c) That these reg u la tio n s apply to a l l roads, s t r e e ts , la n es or o th er p laces open to th e p u b lic fo r the passage o f v e h ic le s . 2 . No v e h ic le s h a ll be operated a t a ra te o f speed in excess o f 30 T h ir ty m iles an hour w ith in the R eserve. 3. Notwithstanding the p rovision s o f Section 2 o f th is by-law no v e h ic le s h a l l be operated a t a ra te o f speed in excess o f 20 twenty m iles an hour w ith in any school zone in the Reserve designated and marked as such by the C ouncil, and no v e h ic le may pass a school bus when stopped. U. "V eh icles" means any wagon, c a r t , m otor-car, m otor-truck, t r a i l e r , m oto r-cycle , tra c tio n engine, t r a c t o r , road-making machinery or other conveyance th a t i s d rive n , p rop elled or drawn by any kind o f power. 5 . The d r iv e r o f any v e h ic le s h a ll bring such v e h ic le to a f u l l stop when ordered by an Indian Constable or an R .C .K .P . Constable authorized by the Akwesasne Indian Band Council to enforce th e s e ,re g u la tio n s , and s h a ll obey a l l d ire c tio n s issu ed by such authorized person in resp ect o f the routing or con trol o f t r a f f i c , in c luding the parking o f v e h ic le s . 6 . No v e h ic le in a dangerous or unsafe condition s h a ll be operated on any road w ith in the Reserve o f Akwesasne (S t . R e g is) . 7 No v e h ic le may be parked on any-roaxi-,.-s.txee.t,...lane...ox_.other p lace open to the Public Passage a t a l l tim e.

Respecting Bus Transportation o f Children: (a) When a motor v e h ic le being driven on any p art o f the Akwesasne St* R egis Indian Reserve overtakes or meets an autobus engaged in the tra n sp o rta tio n o f ch ild ren , which i s s ta tio n a ry to take on o r discharge ch ild re n , whether such autobus i s proceeding in the same d ire c tio n as the motor v e h ic le or nob, the d riv e r o f such motor v e h ic le s h a ll come to a f u l l stop a t l e a s t ten f e e t from the rear or fro n t o f such autobus, and s h a ll not pass or d riv e beyond any p art o f such autobus, u n t i l a l l ch ild ren have boarded the autobus o r have l e f t i t and reached the sid e o f the road and such autobus has again been out in to motion. (b) Anyone who contravenes any p rovision o f th is Section 8(a) s h a l l be l i a b l e on summary con viction -(a) to a f in e o f f i f t y d o lla rs ($50.00) fo r the f i r s t o ffen ce? (b) to a f in e o f one hundred d o lla rs ($100,00) fo r the second o ffen ce; (c) to a fin e o f one hundred d o lla r s ($100.00) and to imprisonment fo r th ir ty days fo r a th ird subsequent offence* 9 . That any unregistered v e h ic le or the v e h ic le driven by an unlicensed d r iv e r be se ized u n t i l such time as le g a l p roof i s produced fo r la w fu l operation o f such v e h ic le s , th a t the v e h ic le w i l l be towed away at the owner * s expense and th a t a f in e o f $25.00 tw en ty-five d o lla rs w i l l be le v ie d fo r th is o ffen ce . 10. Any person who v io la te s any o f the p rovision s o f th is By-Law w ith exception o f Section 8 & 9 , s h a ll be g u ilt y o f an offen ce and s h a ll be l ia b le on summary con viction to a f in e not exceeding one hundred d o lla r s ($100.00) or imprisonment fo r a term not exceeding th ir t y d^rs, or both fin e and imprisonment.
