WHEREAS under S ection 8 l (a ) o f the Indian Act R .S .C . 149, S . I . , the C ouncil o f the Band i s empowered to make by-law s to provide fo r the health o f res id en ts o f the re se rv e . AND WHEREAS i t i s considered that the la ck o f an adequate amount o f s leep is detrim ental to the health and learn ing a b i l i t i e s o f sch ool-age ch ild re n . NOW THEREFORE the cou n c il o f Martin F a lls Band o f Indians enacts as a by-law th e re o f the fo llow in g : (1 ) In th is by-law : (a ) "C ou n cil" means the C ouncil o f the Martin F a lls Band o f Indians as defin ed in the Indian A ct . (b ) "Reserve" means the Martin F a lls Indian Reserve No. 65, set apart fo r use o f the Band. (2 ) A ll persons under the age o f seventeen (l7 ) years and resid en t on the reserve are required to be in th e ir normal place o f residence between the hours o f 10 p.m. and 6 a .m .( lo c a l tim e) on a l l days p r io r to a school day. Normally th is w il l be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday o f each week, except during sch ool h oliday p er iod s . The parent o f any person found v io la t in g the p rov is ion s o f th is by-law sh a ll be g u ilty o f an o ffe n ce and l ia b le on summary con v ic t io n to a f in e not e x ce e d in g .fiv e d o lla r s fo r each v io la t io n .
