DO HEREBV RESOLVE: DECIDE, PAR LES PRESENTES; Band Council Resolution By-law No. 1997- 1998 of the Grassy Narrows First Nation A By-law for the Regulation of Traffic WHEREAS the council of Grassy Narrows First Nation desires to make a by-law governing the regulation of traffic; AND WHEREAS the council of the Grassy Narrows First Nation is empowered to make such by-law pursuant to paragraphs 81. PAR LES PRÉSENTES: Band Council Resolution Short Title 1. This by-law may be cited as the Grassy Narrows First Nation Traffic By-Law No._________. Age Limit 2. No person under the legal driving age (16), as set out in the Ontario Highway Traffic Act shall own or operate a motor vehicle on a reserve road. Rules of the Road 3. (1) A person shall not operate a vehicle on a reserve road including a snow machine or A.T.Y (a) without due and attention; (b) without reasonable care and consideration for other persons on the reserve road; or (c) at a speed that is excessive relative to road, traffic, visibility and weather; conditions (d) when a person is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or solvents School Bus 4.(1) If a vehicle bearing the sign "SCHCjpL BUS" displaying alternatively flashing red lights is stopped on any reserve road, or on any abbess road, the operator of a vehicle approaching the school bus from eime|t,directioti' on a reserve road shall stop before reaching the bus stop. (2) The operators of school buses and of VfhkJesJmthe vicinity of a stopped school bus shall comply with Ontario Highway Traffic A c t t h e operation of school buses and vehicles in the vicinity of school buses. ^

( 1 ) The local detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police shall be required to enforce this by-law. (2) The Grassy Narrows First Nation Peacekeepers alsb has the power to enforce this by-law. (3) Grassy Narrows Crisis Intervention Workers will also have the power to enforce this By law. Offence 6.(1) A person who contravenes, or who otherwise fails to comply with any provision of this by-law, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction; j, (2) All infractions of this by-law shall^e heard by the Tribunal that is established in Grassy Narrows First Nation Territory. ft T rib u n a l 7.(1) The Tribunal is consisted of memberà of the cdmmunity of Grassy Narrows First Nation. \ (2) The Tribunal has the authority to penalize ; jerson who contravenes any by-law of the Grassy Narrows First Nation. This by-law is hereby made at a duly convened meeting of the council of the Grassy Narrows First Nation this 3 rd day of F e b ru a ry , 2000. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT This BCR No, 1619 hereby effectively replaces BCR No. 1557.
