LICENSE AMD CONTROL DCX}3 CEI THE CAPE CROKER INDIAN RESERVE (1 ) In This By-Law: (a ) "At Large" s h a ll mean any dog found n ot under the immediate c o n tr o l o f i t 3 owner, or competent or re sp o n s ib le person , or n ot on the ov/ener ' s p rop erty or apparently unattended. (b ) "Owner" s h a ll be deemed to be anyone over the age o f e igh teen years a t the p rop erty where the dog appears to be lon g , and the Burden o f P ro o f s h a ll be on t h is person ; th at they are n ot the owner. 0wn3 and Owned s h a ll have a corresponding meaning. (2 ) The Cape Croker C ouncil i s au th orised to appoint a Canine C on trol O f f ic e r and is su e such l ic e n s e s as they deem d e s ira b le from time to tim e. (3 ) No person s h a ll a llow a dog to wander a t la rg e w ith in the l im it s o f the Cape Croker R eserve. (4 ) Every dog owner s h a ll vAthin 30 days o f the passing o f th is By-Law, a o o ly at the Cane Croker Band A dm inistration O ff ic e fo r the purpose o f ob ta in in g a Dog L icense and the Burden o f P roo f s h a ll be on the owner th at they have such a l ic e n s e . (5 ) Every dog over the age o f 12 weeks s h a ll be l ic e n s e d and the owner s h a ll keep the dog tag secu re ly f ix e d on the dog a t a l l tim es. (6 ) (a ) The f i r s t male dog on any p roperty s h a ll be l ic e n s e d f o r a fe e o f $3 .00 and the f i r s t fem ale dog on any p rop erty s h a ll be l ic e n s e d f o r a fe e o f $5»00. The fo r e s a id l ic e n s e s h a ll cover the p e r iod o f one ca lendar year or p o r tio n th e r e o f. (b ) th ere a male and female dog are kept on the sane p rop erty i t w i l l be denned th at the male dog i s the f i r s t dog. ( c ) There a fem ale dog has been spayed, the Burden o f P roo f s h a ll be on the owner, the dog s h a ll be l ic e n s e d as a m ale. (d ) S u b ject o f subsection (a ) The second and every subsequent male dog on any p rop erty s h a ll be lic e n s e d f o r a fe e o f $ 5 .0 0 , and the second and every subsequent female d o g .s h a ll be l ic e n s e d f o r a fe e o f $ 1 0 .0 0 . (7 ) Any person v io la t in g any o f the p ro v is io n s o f th is By-Law s h a ll be su b je c t o f a penalty o f not more than $5 .00 fo r the f i r s t o f fe n c e and not more than $10.00 f o r every subsequent o f fe n c e , e x c lu s iv e o f c o s t s .
