ALGONQUINS OF GOLDEN LAKE ALGONQUIN OFFICERS' APPOINTMENT LAW The Council of the Algonquins of Golden Lake hereby makes the following law, consistent with the provisions of Sections 81 (l) (c) , (d) , (m) , (o) , (p) and (r) of the Indian Act: 1. In this law, (a) "Council" means the Council of the Algonquins of Golden Lake, as defined in the Indian Act; (b) "Officer" means an officer appointed pursuant to this law; (c) "Reserve" means the land reserved for the Algonquins of Golden Lake; 2. The Council may by resolution appoint persons to be officers for the purpose of enforcing laws made by the Council. 3. The Council may by resolution set the terms and conditions of employment of any officer, may specifically identify which laws the officer shall be responsible for enforcing and the territory in which the officer shall bear such responsibility, and may enter into a contract of employment for such officer. 4. In addition to any duties specifically prescribed by laws made by the Council, every officer shall be responsible for the preservation and maintenance of the public peace on the reserve.
