"yjfc® Council of the Kitamaat Band, of ndians at a meeting held fifteenth 1961,makes the foiling by-law pursuant to sub­ notion ( 1 )( e)and subsection (l)(f)of Section^? of the Indian Act. «y-Aew-K ©■*-£-a by-law to provide for the raising of money to defray the cost ol village services on the Kitamaat Indian Keserve in the Province of British Columbia. 1. In this by-law, (a) ’’Council of the Band " means the Council of the Kitamaat oand of Indians; (b) ''occupant " means any male person ordinarily resident on the reserve who has reached the full age of 21 years;or , although under 21, is a wage earner and not attending school.Pensioners and persons under medical care who have signed letters from the doctor shall be excluded from payment of this tax. ( c) '‘Reserve" means the Kitamaat Indian Reserve; (d) "Secfcetary of the Council" means the person appointed by the Council of the ^andfor the purposes of thif by-law; (e) "village éervices "means and includes the supplying of water for domestic purposes,the maintenance of a domestic water system, the provision of electric light, the]^ maintenence of an '-lectric power plant and an electric power system, the maintenence of a comrnunityhall, and the clearance of snow, all of which shall Be an the Reserve , and any other similar services on the Reserve uesignated as such by the Council of the Band. 2. Jhe cost of village services on the Reserve shall be defrayed by an assessment to be levied upon all occupants. 3. '•‘■he Council of the $and not later than t h e -- --------- day October o f ------------- in each year, shall prepare an estimate of the amount of money required to defray the cost of village services on the Reserve for the 12 months period following this date. /+. ][he assessment of each occupant shall be determined by dividing the amount of money estimated pursuant to paragraph 3 by the total number of occupants. 5. JTlie Becretary of the Council shall, within fifteen days after the Council of the Band has determined the assessment of each occupant, send

The amount of the assessment determined pursuant to paragraph 4 shall be paid by each occupant to the Secretary of the Council on or before the date specified in the notice of assessment. 7. Any occupant who fails to pay the assessment in accordance with paragraph 6 shall be guilty of an offence against this by-law and the assessment or any part thereof remaining unpaid shall be recoverable on summary oonviotion. 8.
