"CERTIFIED" THE GITSEGUKLA BAND OF INDIANS BY-LAW NUMBER 90-2 Being A By-Law Governing Roads, Road Maintance, And Traffic Signs WHEREAS paragraphs (b),(f),(g) and (r) of Section81 of the Indian Act empowers the Council to enact by-laws respecting the regulation of traffic, the construction and maintenance of roads, any matter ancillary thereto and the imposition of a penalty for the violation thereof ; NOW THEREFORE the Gitsegukla Band Council enacts as a by-law there of as follows; 1. The design, dimension, pplacing, construction and erection of traffic signsshall meet the requirements for such signs indicated in the Regulations passed under the Highways Act of the Province of British Columbia. 2. The Council shall, by resolution, authorize the placing of all traffic signs and the resolution shall specify the location of the sign in accordance with the Regulations referred to in Section 1 and the requirements of any by-laws respecting the control of traffic. 3. The Council shall appoint a village maintenance man, who shall place and maintain, or cause to be placed and maintained, the traffic signs in compliance with the Regulations indicated in section 1 and authoirzed by the Council, and shall remove or cause to be removed traffic signs which are not so authorized. 4. a) No personshall interfere with or attempt to interfere with the placement or maintenance of any authorized traffic sign. b) No person shall remove,deface, obliterate, alter or in any manner interfere with any traffic sign lawfully placed on a road 5. No person shall block or obstruct a natural watercourse, drain, or roadsideditch. 6. The maintenance person, upon advise of the Council, shall re-open anyroadside ditch willfully or unintentionally blocked or obstruct ed by a person contrary to Scetion 6 and shallin writing advise the person so blocking or obstructing the roadside ditch that such actions are contrary to this by-law and may result in a charge being laid under the by-law for repeated offences. 7. No person shall block or obstruct any road or the passage of vehicles on any road other than with the written authority of Band Council; 8. a) Noperson shall use any part of a road for any perpose other than the passage of vehicles without first having obtained the approval of the Council as authorized by a letterand under the conditions designateed in the letter.

The Gitsegukla Band Of Indians- By-Law 90-2 (continued) .... 2 8.(b) A person who has obtained the permission of the Council to utilize part or all of a road pursuant to section 8(a) shall not be relived fromliabi1ity in respect to damages caused to the road by such use and shall forego the use and return the road to its original state at his/her cost within 30 days of a written notice authorized by Council. (c) Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, no person shall erect, or attempt to erect, any advertising sign on a road except with the permission of the Council, and such signs shall not be erected or placed in such a way as to obstrue the vision of persons using the road. 9. No person shall set, or cause to be set, a fire on a road without first having obtained written permission so to do from the Fire Chief and subject to the conditions set out in that permission. 10. No person shall operate a snow vehicle on the travelled port­ ion of anyroad or road allowance within the village. 11. No person shall operate any motorized vehicle within the boundaries of the village cemetery except at times of funerals or with the permission of the Cuncil. 12. No person shall operate any motorized vehicle on playing fields within the village at any time unless authorized by the Council 13. No person shall operate a vehicle at a rate of speed of 30 kilometers an hour within the village and signs to this effect shall be erected. 14. (a) Every person operating a vehicle shall bring the same to a full stop immediately before entering or crossing a through highway. (b) Every intersection of a road with a through highway shall be marked by a stop sign. 15. Any person who violatesany of theprovisions of this by-law shall be quilty of an offence, and shall be liable, on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars or im­ prisonment for a term not exceeding thirty days, or to both fine and imprisonment.
