"CERTIFIED" THE GITSEGUKLA BAND OF INDIANS BY-LAW NUMBER 90-8 Being A By-Law Respecting The Discharge Of Firearms Or The Use Of Oher Dangerous Weapons WHEREAS paragragh (c) of Section 81 of the Indian Act empowers the Council to make a by-law respecting firearms or the use of other dangerous weapons and the imposition of a fine for violation of any by-law made under that section. AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient for the safety of the inhab­ itants of the village to control the use of firearms, pelletguns, knives, slingshots within the boundaries of the village and its envi rons. AND THEREFORE the Gitsegukla Band Council enacts as a by-law to the following ; : 1. No person shall discharge any firearm or pellet gun within the village or 2km. of village; 2. No person shall loan or cause to loan any firearm or pellet gun with the village; 3. No person under the age of 16 shall be in possession of a fire­ arm or pellet gun unless accompanied by a parent or gaurdian; 4. Firearms are to be stored in a safe place with ammunition kept under lock.and key in a place not accessable to under age chi ldren; 5. No person shall be in possession of a knife with a blade exceed­ ing three inches, in a public place; 6. No person..shall :be_ in . possession of,a sling:shot within.the v i11 age ; The laws of the Crown shall apply when any of the above are in violation. ANY PERSON who violates any provision of this by-law shall be quilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to imprissonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months; or both fine and imprisonment. ...2
