f REGULATIONS FCR THE CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF THE HAZELTON BAND WATERWORKS SYSTEM. 1* The con tro l and management o f the Hazelton Band Waterworks shall be under the d irection o f the Hazelton Band Council# 2 . No person sh a ll tap or make any connections whatever with any o f the pipes or mains o f the said system without permission o f the Hazelton Band Council# 3# No person, unless authorized by the Council, shall in terfere with any hydrant, valve, stopcock, pipe or other waterworks appliance outside c f h is own premises. 4# The water connection from the street line into any premises shall be made at the cost o f the applicant# 5# Persons introducing water service into their own premises and the person doing the work w ill be required to cause the said service to be placed not less than four (4) feet below the surface o f the ground throughout the distance between, the street line and the in­ side o f the foundation wall o f the building into which the water service is introduced# 6# Every serv ice pipe shall be provided by the user or occupant with a brass "stop &. waste cock* o f a pattern to be approved by the Councilj which cock sha ll be placed immediately inside the outer' wall o f the building supplied# 7# The user sha ll use only taps, pipes, fitt in g s and plumbing fixtures which are in a sa tis fa ctory condition and have been approved by the Council# 8# The diameter o f the standard service pipe and standard taps shall not exceed three-quarter inch# 9# Water sh a ll not be turned on to any premises u n til the in sta lla tion o f the pipes, etc# has been completed to the sa tis fa ction o f the Council or an inspector appointed by the Council. A charge o f *50£ sh a ll be made fo r the turning on the water to any property# 10# A person so appointed and authorized by the Council may enter any building connected with the water system at any convenient time to
- 2 -10,• examine pipes and fixtures and to investigate in regard to the quantity o f water used and the manner o f it s use. 11» Every user sha ll keep his service pipes, stopcocks and other fixtures on his premises and from the line o f street or lane, in good order and repair and at his expense. In the case o f leaky or fau lty fixtures the Council may shut o f f the supply o f water u n til such defective pipes or other fixtures are re­ paired or altered as required. In no case shall any user have a claim on the band or Council by reason o f such shutting o f f o f the water. 12. When i t is necessary to make repairs to the main lines or to construct new works, the Council reserves the right to shut o f f the water from any user and keep i t shut o f f as long as may be necessary. 13. Where b o ilers are supplied with water the Council w ill not be lia b le fo r any damage resu lting from the sutting o f f o f the supply o f water. 14. Any user vacating any premises supplied with water from the water system or who is desirous o f discontinuing the service supplied, must give a reasonable notice o f the same in writing to the Council o f the band or Indian Superintendent. In the case o f fa ilu re to give such notice the user w ill be held lia b le fo r the rates therefore and fo r any damage that may result* 15. The several rates and charges set forth in the schedule which forms part o f these regulations, shall be the rates and charges fo r water supplied from the Hazelton Band Water System and a l l such rates and charges sh a ll be payable monthly. 16. (a) At the expiration o f one month a fter the rates or charges are due on any premise, the water may at the option o f the C ouncil, be shut o f f and i t shall not be turned on except on payment o f a l l rates and charges, together with the fee o f .50£ paid fo r the shutting o f f and »50£ paid fo r the turning on.
» - r3 -16* (b) The Council may shut the water o f f from the premises o f any user who infringes any o f these regulations and may refhse to turn the water on again un til sa tis fied and assured that the user w ill comply with these regulations* 17* A water b a i l i f f shall be appointed from time to time by the Band Council as required and shall be responsible fo r the ad­ m inistration o f these regulations and the co lle c tio n o f fees as set out in the schedule and shall make recommendations to the Band Council concerning any matter which may arise in the administration o f these regulations and shall receive remunera­ t io n as set out in the schedule o f fees attached to and forming part o f these regulations*
