CAMPBELL RIVER INDIAN BAND BY-LAW No. 01-1987 A BY-LAW TO BRING SECTION 10(3) OF THE INDIAN ACT INTO EFFECT IN RESPECT-OF THE CAMPBELL RIVER INDIAN BAND. WHEREAS the Campbell River Indian Band (the "Band") enacted Interim Band Membership Rules ("Interim Rules") on June 26, 1987 in accordance with the recommendation made to all Chiefs by the Honourable Minister of Indian and Northern A ( f S f c a h i e r d s u , l e Bi A) ll McKnight, in his letter dated May 6, 1987; AND WHEREAS Part III of the Interim Rules require that its provisions be reviewed at a general Band membership meeting w ( i S t c h h i e n d ule s ix B ) (6) months of their coming into force; AND WHEREAS the Interim Rules were duly reviewed at a general Band membership meeting held December 8, 1987, at which time amendments were deemed necessary by the membership; (Schedule C) AND WHEREAS the Council of the Band resolved to enable all Band members eighteen (18) years and older, whether residing on or off the reserve, the right to vote on the final adoption of the permanent form of Membership Rules for the Band ; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Campbell River Indian Band hereby enacts this by-law pursuant to sections 10(3) and 81(l)(p.4) of the Indian Act, R.S. c.149, s.l (as amended) as follows:
1. The consents required under sections 10(1) and (2) of the Indian Act shall be given by a majority of the members of the Band who are of the full age of eighteen years. 2. Upon the adoption of the permanent form of the Campbell River Indian Band Membership Rules, this by-law shall have no further force or effect. READ, CONSIDERED AND ADOPTED at a duly convened meeting of the Council of the Campbell River Indian Band this ___Llïfà-day of December, 1987 as evidenced by the signatures given below belonging to a majority of the Councillors of the said Band present at that meeting.
