The Council of The Pas Band of Indians at a meeting held this 29th day of la1' 1979, hereby enacts By-Law No. 9 to provide for the regulation of p ic water supplies within the boundaries of The Pas Indian Reserve. WHEREAS, paragraphs (a), (1) and (r) of Section 81 of the Indian Act empowers the Council of a Band to make by-laws to provide for the regulations of the use of public water supplies, and the imposition of a penalty for a violation thereof, and; WHEREAS, it is deemed to be expedient to provide for the regulations of the use of public water supplies for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of The Pas Indian Reserve. i NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Pas Band of Indians enacts as a By-Law thereof, the following: 1. In this By-Law: a) "Council" means the Council as defined in the Indian Act of The Pas Band of Indians; b) "Reserve" means the tract of land as defined in the Indian Act and for the purpose of the By-Law The Pas Indian Reserve. c) "Premises" means lands and residences within the Reserve. 2. All residential dwellings sanitary facilities shall conform with all the standards of the Department of Health and Social Development of the Province of Manitoba which are now in effect or promulgated. 3. No person shall willfully or maliciously pollute any well, cistern, reservoir or any other means of water supply within The Pas Reserve. 4. No person shall destroy or damage any well, cistern, reservoir, or any other means of water supply within, the Reserve. 5. The occupant of a permise within the Reserve shall keep the well, cistern or reservior or any other means of water supply thereon enclosed, covered or maintained properly. 6. No person shall deposit into or on the ice of or on the shores on any waters lying within the Reserve any night soil, garbage, manure, dead animal matter, decaying vegetable matter or any substance which in any way may contaminate such waters and tend to make the waters unfit for human consumption. 7. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this By-Law shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on a summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $100.00 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding thirty (30) days or both fine and imprisonment. Approved and passed at a duly convened meeting of the Council of The Pas Band of Indians, this 29th day of May, 1979. The quorum for this Band consists of 5 Council members. CHIEF______Charles G.
