^ c f c / 0 ( b - 8 3 ° AMENDMENTS TO A BY-LAW REGULATING INTOXICANTS ON THE RESERVES OF THE CROSS LAKE BAND OF INDIANS WHEREAS the Cross Lake Band Council passed a by-law on July 17, 1985, that was assented to by a majority of the electors of the Band who voted at a special meeting on July 16, 1985 of the Band called by the Council of the Band for the purpose of considering the bylaw; WHEREAS the Cross Lake Band Council considers it desirable and necessary to amend this by-law; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Cross Lake Band of Indians enact the fol­ lowing: The said by-law is amended by adding thereto, immediately after Section 6, the following section: "Penalties 7. For greater certainty and for the administrative convenience in the enforcement of this by-law, the penalty provision as set out in Sec. 85.1(4) of the Indian Act is hereafter repeated: '4. Every person who contravenes a by-law made under this section is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction, (a) in the case of a by-law made under paragraph (l)(a), to a fine of not more than one thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both; and (b) in the case of a by-law made under paragraph (l)(b) or (c), to a fine of not more than one hundred dol­ lars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to both.' The said by-law is further amended by repealing Section 5(a) and the fol­ lowing substituted therefore: "(a) is an intoxicant within the meaning of the Indian Act but is not an intoxicant within the meaning of Section 1(d) of this by-law." The said by-law is further amended by adding thereto, immediately after the words "section 1(d)" of Section 5(b) the following: "of this by-law". The said by-law is further amended by adding thereto the following title to the by-law: "A By-law to Regulate Intoxicants on the Reserve of the Cross Lake Band of Indians”.
