THE COUNCIL OF THE S IX NATIONS TRAD IT IO N AL H ERED ITARY CHIEFS KANESATAKE IN D IAN RESERVE, M ONTREAL DISTRICT PROVINCE OF QUEBEC OFFICE OF THE CHIEFS, KANESATAKE, QUEBEC 05 11 1987 D A Y MONTH Y E A R DO HEREBY RESOLVE: FOR THE TERRITORY OF DONCASTER WHEREAS the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake in conjunction with Mohawk' Council of Kanesatake (hereinafter referred to as the Councils) has declared the Territory of Doncaster No. 17 in the Province of Quebec to be a district reserved for recreation, leisure, hunting and fishing and any other activity harmonious with nature; THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Councils have declared that the following law applies to any class of business, trade or calling carried in or on the Territory of Doncaster No. 17 in the Province of Quebec (hereinafter referred to as the Territory). 1. For the purposes of this law the following definitions shall apply: "Commercial Venture" means any class of business, trade or calling "Peace Officer"means a Peacekeeper, Conservation Officer or any person authorized by the Councils to carry out law enforcement functions on the Territory. "Justice" means a Justice of the court of Kahnawake. 2. No person may conduct or carry on a commercial venture on the Territory. 3. Any person who contravenes Section 2 is guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars (1,000.00) or to imprisonment not exceeding Six (6) months, or both. 4. Any peace officer may seize the property used in the conduct or carrying on of a commercial venture on the Territory upon the authorization of a Justice. 6. Upon conviction in the Court of Kahnawake for any violation of the present law, the Court may order that any and all property seized shall be forfeited to the Mohawk Councils of Kahnawake and Kanesatake. 7. This law shall come into effect ten days after it has been adopted and ratified through resolutions of the Councils of Kahnawake and Kanesatake.
