THE PAUL BAND OF INDIANS BY-LAW NUMBER 5A Being a By-law to amend By-law Number 5 respecting the placement and maintenance of traffic signs within the boundaries of the Paul Band Indian Reserve, in the Province of Alberta. WHEREAS the Council of the Paul Band of Indians did enact By-law Number 5 pursuant to Section 81 of the Indian Act on the 18th day of June, 1975; AND WHEREAS it is necessary to update the By-law to better achieve the purposes enumerated therein; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Paul Band of Indians pursuant to Section 81 of the Indian Act enacts a By-law therefore as follows: 1. Section 1 is repealed and the following substituted: Section 1. In this By-law: a) "Council means the Council of the Paul Band of Indians; b) "Reserve" means a tract of land, the legal title to which is invested in Her Majesty, that has been set apart by Her Majesty for the use and benefit of the Band and includes unsold surrendered lands; c) "Road" includes any roadway, bridge, driveway, street, lane or other other area used for the passage of vehicles on the Paul Band Indian Reserve;
d) "Vehicle" means a device in, on, or by which a person or thing is or may be transported or drawn, except a device designed to be moved by human power; e) "Traffic Engineer" means a person appointed by the Council to place and maintain traffic signs; and f ) "Traffic Sign" includes a sign, warning, marking or other device for the guidance or direction of persons using the roads. 2. Section 6 is amended by striking our "on a road" and substituting "within the boundaries of the Reserve". Approved and passed at a duly convened meeting of the Paul Band Council the 13th day of October, 1982.
