BONAPARTE PROPERTY TAX AMENDING BY-LAW p 2 (1994) Whereas The Bonaparte Property Tax By-law was approved by the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development on June 23, 1993 ; and Whereas The Bonaparte Band Council wishes to amend the By-law in order to ensure a more complete equality of assessment with adjoining municipalities, regional districts, etc ., Be it therefore resolved that Bonaparte Band Council enacts the following By-law pursuant to section 83 ofthe Indian Ail. 1. Short Title This By-law may be cited as the 1994 Tax Amendment By-law . 2, Section 17 of the Bonaparte Property Tax By-law is amended by deleting it and substituting the following : 17 . (1) In this section "market value" is to be defined and determined as found in section 26 ofthe Assessment Ag SBC 1979 c. 21 (2) In carrying out a valuation ofthose classes ofland and improvements whose value is prescribed in the Assessment ArA (BC) to be set by Commissioner's rate by way of registered provincial regulation, the assessor shall value these same classes of land and improvements in the reserve using the Commissioner's rates currently in effect from time to time in the province ofBritish Columbia . (3) In carrying out a valuation of all land and improvements other than those referred to in subsection 2 above, the assessor shall make the valuation in compliance with the market value found locally or in the assessments in adjacent or surroundingjurisdictions, or both. (4) In carrying out a valuation pursuant to subsection 3 above, the assessor shall apply all the exemptions from assessment in effect generally within the province of British Columbia according to provincial legislation, excepting only those exemptions from assessment applicable solely to British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority APPROVED AND PASSED at a duly convened meeting of the Band Council of the Bonaparte Indian Band held at the Bonaparte Band Administration Office, Box 669, Cache Creek, B.C., VOK 1110, this first day ofJune, 1994 .
