Minister of Indian Affairs Ministre des Affaires and Northern Development indiennes et du Nord canadien Ottawa, Canada K1 A OH4 I, the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, HEREBY APPROVE, pursuant to section 83 of the Indian Act, the following bylaw made by the Songhees First Nation, in the Province of British Columbia, at a meeting held on the 5'h day of May 2000 . Songhees First Nation Rates Bylaw No. 2000-02 Dated at Ottawa, Ontario this AIr day of 2000 .
SONGHEES FIRST NATION BYLAW NO. 2000.02 SONGHEES FIRST NATION RATESBYLAW WHEREAS pursuant to subsection 83(1)(a) of the Indian Act, R.S.C . 1985, c .l-5 of the Council of a band may make bylaws for the purpose of taxation for localpurposes land, or interests in land, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in a reserve and with respect to any matters arising out of or ancillary to such purpose ; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Songhees First Nations (also knownas Songhees Indian Band) has duly and properly enacted the Songhees IndianBand Property Assessment and Taxation Bylaws ; NOW BE IT THEREBY RESOLVED that the following bylaw be and is hereby enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Indian Act and in particularsection 83(1) for the purpose of establishing annual rates of taxation . l . . This bylaw may be~cited for all purposes as the Songhees FirstNation 2000 Rates Bylaw No. 2000-02. 2 . Pursuant to Section 18 .1 of the Songhees Indian Band Property Taxation Bylaw, the tax rates for each class of property shall be in accordance with Schedule "A" which is attached, and forms part of the 2000 SongheesFirst Nation Rates Bylaw No. 2000-02. on the 5th day This bylaw is hereby enacted by Council at a duly convened meeting held of May, 2000 . SCHEDULE "A" The Council of the Songhees First Nation hereby adopts the following taxation rates for the 2000 taxation year for the following classes of property .
