Songhees Indian Band Band Council Resolution Whereas : The Band Council ofthe Songhees Indian Band deems it advisable and in the best interests ofthe band to engage in, by bylaw, the taxation for local purposes ofland, or interests in land, in the reserve, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in the reserve. Now Be It Hereby Resolved : That the Property Taxation Rates Bylaw, be and is hereby enacted for the purpose of establishing rates to be applied in the Songhees Indian Band administration ofthe Property Assessment and Property Taxation Bylaws which were adopted and are being utilized for the purpose ofengaging in taxation for local purposes ofland, or interests in land, in the reserve, including rights to occupy, possess or use land inthe reserve, pursuant to the provisions ofthe Indian Act and in particular pursuant to the provisions ofsubsection 83(1) ofthe IndianAct; and, That upon approval by the Minister ofIndian Affairs, the Property Taxation Rates Bylaw shall be of full force and effect .
