The Council of the MIKISEW CREE FIRST NATION I Current Capital Balance : $ Box 90 Fort Chipewyan, AB TOP 1B0 Ph : 780-697-3740 Fax : 780-697-3826 Committed : $ Province of' Alberta Current Revenue Balance: $ : Allison Bay Indian Reserve NO : 219 Committed : Place $ Date : 2000 Tax Rates Bylaw WHEREAS: The Mikisew Cree First Nation Chief and Council have been elected to represent and empowered to act on behalf of the constituents of Mikisew Cree First Nation ; and V1"REAS: The Powers and Authorities of the Council are exercised as provided for under the Indian Act ; and WHEREAS: The liabilities of Council are limited to those specifically provided for under the Indian Act ; and WHEREAS: This Council has met at the duly convened meeting on !`\ ~R~ ~- ~-C,o , 2000 ; WHEREAS: Pursuant to subsection 83(1)(a) of the Indian Act, R.S.C. 1985, c.l-5, the Council of a band may make bylaws for the purpose of taxation for local purposes of land, or interests in land, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in a reserve and with respect to any matters arising out of or ancillary to such purpose; AND WHEREAS: the Council of the Mikisew Cree First Nation enacted the Mikisew Cree First Nation Property Assessment and Taxation Bylaw on June 24, 1997 ; NOWBE IT THEREBY RESOLVED THAT: the following bylaw be and is hereby enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Indian Actand in particular section 83(1) for the purpose of establishing annual rates of taxation . 1. This bylaw may be cited for all purposes as the Mikisew Cree First Nation 2000 Tax Rates Bylaw. 2 . Pursuant to section 11 of the Mikisew Cree First Nation Property Assessment and Taxation Bylaw, the rate of tax applied against the assessed value of the land and improvements shall be 1.50% . *quorum for this First Nation consists of Four (4) Council members .
