I NATION COUNCIL PO Box 1101, Kitamaat Village, BC, VOT 2BO I (250) 639-9361 Toll Free: 1-888-842-4752 I Fax: 250-632-2840 or 250-632-4794 HAISLA NATION RATES BY-LAW, 2019 WHEREAS pursuant to the Indian Act, R.S.C. 1985, and specifically paragraph 83(1)(a) of the Indian Act, 1985, c.l-5, the Council of a Band may make by-laws for the purpose of taxation for local purposes of land, or interests in land, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in a reserve and with respect to any matter arising out of or ancillary to such purpose; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Haisla Nation enacted the Haisla Nation Property Assessment and Taxation By-Law on July 25, 2006, as amended by the Haisla Property Assessment and Taxation Amendment By-Law No. 01-2007; the Haisla Nation Property Assessment and Taxation Amendment By-Law 01-2011; and the Haisla Nation Property and Taxation Amendment By-Law 01-2017. NOW BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the following by-law be and is hereby enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Indian Act, and in particular section 83(1) for the purpose of establishing annual rates of taxation. 1. This by-law may be cited for all purposes as the Haisla Nation Rates By-Law, 2019. 2. Pursuant to Section 11 of the Haisla Nation Property Assessment and Taxation By-Law, the tax rates for each class of property shall be in accordance with Schedule "A" which is attached, and forms part of the 2019 Rates By-Law. This By-law was approved at a duly convened meeting of the Haisla Nation Council, dated the 25 1 h day of November. 2019. A Quorum consists of six (6) Council Members.
