STONEY NATION Chronological No: 2017-022 COUNCIL RESOLUTION File Reference THE COUNCIL OF THE STONEY TRIBE - TERRI'T'ORY TREATY NUMBER SEVEN SOUTHERN ALBERTA PLACE MORLEY, ALBERTA DATE. 25 MAY AI) 2017 DAY MONTH YEAR WHEREAS the Stoney Tribal Council is empowered to act fin and on behalf of the people of the 13earspaw, ('hiniki and Wesley Bands; and WHEREAS the Stoney 'Tribal Council has met in quorum at a duly convened meeting on the 25'1' day of May, 2017: and WHEREAS pursuant to subsection 83(1)(a) of the Indian Act, R.S.('. 1985, e. 1-5, the Council of a hand may make by-laws liar the purpose of taxation for local purposes of land. or interests in land, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in a reserve and with respect to any matter arising out of or ancillary to such purpose; and WHEREAS the Council of the Stoney First Nation enacted the Stoney Properly Assessment and lax Ill-law on July 9, 1992; 'l'IlEREE"'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following by-law be and is hereby enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Indian Act and in particular section 83(1) for the purpose of establishing annual rates of taxation. l . Pursuant to Section H of the ,4loney Properly lax 13v-law, the rate of tax applied against the assessed value of property shall he, (a) for non-residential 1.52%, (h) fin machinery and equipment 0.86% 3. This 13y-law comes into force and effect upon being approved by the Minister of Indian Aflihirs and Northern Development.
