WASHAGAMIS BAY BAND OF INDIANS. By-law number: - 1 - . A b y -law to reg u la te t r a f f i c . 1. WHEREAS Clause b o f S e c t io n 81 o f The Ind ian Act empowers the C ou n cil o f Washagamis Bay Band to make by -law s f o r the re g u la t io n o f t r a f f i c . 2 . AND WHEREAS -Clause r o f the sa id S e ctio n empowers the C ou n cil o f the Band to make by -law s im posing p e n a lt ie s . 3 . AND WHEREAS i t i s deemed exp ed ien t to reg u la te t r a f f i c w ith in Rat P ortage Ind ian Reserve 38A, w herein the C ou n cil o f Washagamis Bay Band has a u th ority fo r the purpose h e r e a ft e r s e t fo r th . 4. AND WHEREAS the C ouncil o f Washagamis Bay Band, f o r the s a fe ty and w e lfa re o f the in h a b ita n ts o f Rat P ortage Ind ian R eserve 38A, have re so lv e d as h e r e a ft e r s e t fo r t h . 5 . NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED, AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED, by the C ou n cil o f Washagamis Bay Band as f o l lo w s : 6. In th is B y-law : (a ) ftC ou n cil" means the C ouncil o f Washagamis Bay Band as from time to time c o n s t itu te d . (b ) "R eserv e ” means Rat P ortage Indian Reserve 38A.

No v e h ic le s h a l l be op era ted on any p art o f the Reserve ex cep t the road s. 8. No v e h ic le s h a l l be op era ted on the Reserve at a speed in ex cess o f f o r t y (40) k ilo m e te rs p er hour. 9. No v e h ic le s h a l l be op era ted on the Reserve in an unsafe o r ca r e le s s manner having regard to the s a fe ty and w e lfa re o f the in h a b ita n ts o f the R eserve, o th ers using the ro a d s , and the o p e ra to r and pass angers o f and in each v e h ic le . 10. No v e h ic le s h a l l be op era ted on the Reserve which i s unsafe having regard to the s a fe ty and w e lfa re o f the in h a b ita n ts o f the R eserve, o th ers using the roa d s , and the op e ra to r and pass angers o f and in each v e h ic le . 11. No person s h a l l park , s t a t io n o r leave any v e h ic le on any

The C ouncil may by Band C ouncil R eso lu tion d ir e c t the p la c in g o f any s ig n o r s ign s which the C ou n cil may from time to time f o r the s a fe ty and w e l l fa r e o f the in h a b ita n ts o f the Reserve deem to be n ecessa ry or d e s ir a b le . 13. The C ou n cil may by Band C ou n cil R e so lu tio n at any time and from time to time c lo s e any road o r any p a rt o f any road and at any time and from time to tim e re -op en the same. 14. Every person s h a l l obey each and every s ig n at any time and from time to time p la ce d on the R eserve o r any road and each and every d ir e c t io n and o rd er g iven fo r the s a fe ty and w e l l fa r e an-d-we-li^are o f the in h a b ita n ts o f the R eserve, o th ers u sin g the roa d s , and the o p e ra to r and passangers o f and in each v e h i c l e . 15. No person s h a l l in t e r fe r e w ith o r attem pt to in t e r fe r e w ith the p la c in g and m aintanence o f any s ig n and no p erson s h a l l remove, d e fa c e , o b l i t e r a t e , a l t e r o r attem pt t o rem ove, d e fa c e , o b l i t e r a t e o r a l t e r o r in any manner in t e r fe r e w ith any s ig n . 16. Every person who v iM a te s any p r o v is io n o f th is By-law s h a l l be g u i l t y o f an o f fe n c e and s h a l l on summary c o n v ic t io n be l i a b l e to a f in e n ot exceed in g one hundred d o l la r s ($ 100 .00 )
