CHIPPEWAS OF MNJIKANING FIRST NATION Being a Band within the meaning of the Indian Act APPOINTMENT OF FIRE CHIEF BY-LAW BY-LAW NO. 06-05 Enacted on the 8th day of August, 2006. BEING A BY-LAW TO REPEAL AND REPLACE BY-LAW NO. 80-15 WHEREAS the Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation recognizes and affirms its inherent right of self-government and jurisdiction to pass laws and powers, and its authority pursuant to the Indian Act to create by-laws providing for the health and safety of the residents on and visitors to the Mnjikaning First Nation Territory; AND WHEREAS the Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation has established a professional fire and rescue service to provide fire protection and prevention services within the First Nation; AND WHEREAS the Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation Chief and Council have enacted a Mnjikaning Fire Rescue Service Establishing and Regulating By-Law No. 06-04, enacted on August 8, 2006, which sets out the duties and responsibilities of the Fire Chief; AND WHEREAS the Chief and Council of Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation did previously enact a By-Law to Appoint the Fire Chief of the Chippewas of Volunteer Fire Department By-Law #80-15 on November 14, 1980; and Chief and Council wish to repeal By-Law #80-15 and replace it with this By-Law; AND WHEREAS Chief and Council appointed Mark Pankhurst as Fire Chief of Mnjikaning Fire Rescue Service at a duly convened meeting by way of Motion #2001- 2002-334, effective October 1, 2001; NOW THEREFORE the Chief and Council of the Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation hereby enacts as follows: SHORT TITLE 1. APPOINTMENT OF FIRE CHIEF 2. Further to the Mnjikaning Fire Rescue Service Establishing & Regulating By-Law No. 06-04, Chief and Council of Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation hereby affirms the appointment of Mark Pankhurst as Fire Chief of the Mnjikaning Fire Rescue Service to serve until such time as this By-Law is rescinded. REPEALED 3. By-Law No. 80-15 enacted on November 14,1980, being a By-Law to appoint a Fire Chief is hereby repealed. THIS BY-LAW IS HEREBY made at a duly convened meeting of the Chief and Council of the Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation this 8th day of August, 2006.
