WHEREAS ; under section 81(a) of the Indian ActR.S.,C.149,S.1 The Bandiis empowered to make by-laws to provide for the health of residents of the reserve. AND WHEREAS;it is considered that control on the ownership of dogs on the reserve is applicable to the general health and safety of residents. NQWUHERERORE;the Council of the reserve of Cat Lake enacts as a by-law thereof the following; » ' ( 1 ) In thi s by-law; (a ) "Counci1" means the Council of the reserve of Cat Lake as defined in the Indian Act. * (b)^Reserve" means that area of Crown Land,set apart for the use of the Band i (c)"Dog Control Officer" means the per«son appointed from the to time by Council for the purpose of controlling dogs on the Reserve,referred to in section (2) by-laws. (3) NO DOG SHALL BE ALLOWED TO RUN AT LARGE IN POPULATED AREAS OF THE RESERVE,UNLESS ACCOOMPANIED BY THE OWNER OR OTHER RESPONSIBLE PERSON CAPABLE OF EXERCISING CONTROL OVER THE ANIMAL. (4) NO FAMILY SHALL BE PERMITTED TO OWN MORE THAN TWO PET DOGS OR FOUR1 WORKING DOGS OR TWO PET DOGS AND FOUR WORKING DOGS. (5) THE DOG CONTROL OFFICER MAY CAPTURE ANY DOG WHICH IS DEEMED IN*HIS OPINION, TO BE RUNNING AT LARGE CAUSING A PUBLIC NUISANCE, AND THE OWNER OF THE DOG WILL BE ALLOWED TO REDEEM THE ANIMAL WITHIN FORTYEIGHTI HOURS, AFTER WHICH TIME THE DOG MAY BE DESTROYED. (G) THE FEE PAYABLE FOR REDEEMTION FOR A CAPTURJD DOG WILL BE TEN DOLLARS FOR THE FIRST OFFENCE AND THEREAFTER TWENTY DOLLARS EACH TIME.
