INTOXICANTS BY-LAW Whereas a majority of the electors of the Band who attended a special meeting of the Big Island________ Band on 24th of March/88 _______ (date) called by the council of the Big 1 sinnri_______ Band on I7th of March/88 (datei for the purpose of considering the contents of this by-law, consented to the contents of this by-law. And whereas the Big Island____ _ Band Council considers necessary special measures for the protection of the inhabitants of the reserve(s) of the Big Island________ Band from the presence of intoxicants: Now therefore, it is hereby enacted pursuant to section 85.1 of the Indian Act: Definitions 1. In this by-law "intoxicants" includes alcohol, alcoholic, spiritous, vinous, fermented malt or other intoxicating liquor or combination of liquors and mixed liqour a part of which is spiritous, vinous, fermented or otherwise intoxicating and all drinks or drinkable liquids and all preparations or mixtures capable of human consumption that are intoxicating. Prohibition on Sale. Barter. Supply or Manufacture 2. Everyone who sells, barters, supplies or manufactures intoxicants on the reserve(s) of the ____ Big Island____ Band is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction. Prohibition Against Intoxication 3. Everyone who is intoxicated on the reserve(s) of the Big Island_______ Band is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction. Prohibition on Possession of Intoxicants 4. Everyone who if found in possession of intoxicants is guilty of an offence punishable of summary conviction. Penalties 5. For greater certainty, the penalties for contravention of this by-law are set out in the Indian Act. Citation 6. This,'by-law may be cited as By-law No. * of the _____ Big Island______ Band being a by-law respecting intoxicants. Approved and passed at a duly convened meetinq of the Council of the ____ Big Island_____ Band of Indians on _______ March/88______ as evidenced by the signatures below and being a majority of councillors present at the meeting. .. x ï.
