KWAWKE7TLTH IKDIAK AGENCY KWA7/KEWLTH BAUD BYLAWS The Council o f the Kwawkewlth Band o f Indians a t a meeting held May 16, 1900 makes the fo llow in g bylaw pursuant to paragraph (a ) and (r ) o f se c tio n 80 of the Indian A ct. Bylaw ¥0 . 2 A bylaw to provide fo r the d isp osa l o f garbage and waste on the Kwawkewlth Indian Reserve, in the Province o f B r it is h Columbia. (a) Ko person sh a ll accumulate or permit to be a cc umulated upon lands in h is p ossession or deposit or accumulate on the lands in possession o f an other person anything which is or may become o f f ensive or in ju riou s to h ea lth . (b) Ko person sh a ll d ep osit any dead anim al, o f f a l , f i s h , manure, garbage, f r u i t , v eg eta b les , n igh t- s o i l , f i l t h , liq u id w aste, or anything o f a nature which is or may become o ffe n s iv e or p r e ju d ic ia l to health upon or in to any highway, s t r e e t , road, a l le y , lan e, l o t , d itch , wharf, dock, lak e, pond, r iv e r , stream, w e ll , or sewer, or in to any lapd or premises w ithin the reserve and any such de p o s it s h a ll be deemed a nuisance prov ided , how ever, that the p rov is ion s o f th is paragraph sh a ll not apply to the d ep osit and proper d isp osa l o f . any such m ateria l in to or at a p lace w ithin the reserve approved by the Council fo r that purpose. continued
KWAWKEV7LTH B AHD BYLAWS H o. 2 - c o n t i n u e d (c ) The Council may arrange f o r the regu lar removal o f garbage and waste from any premises w ithin the reserv e . (d) In the Spring o f each year as soon as weather perm its the person in possession o f any pre mises w ith in the reserve sh a ll c o l l e c t a l l waste matter ly in g thereon, in clu d in g t in cans, b o t t le s , paper and animal manure. 4o) A ll such waste matter s h a ll be disposed o f :in such a manner as w il l prevent any nuisance or o ffen ce as the fo u lin g o f w ells and water supply. ( f ) Any person who v io la te s any o f the p rov is ion s o f th is bylaw sh a ll be g u ilty o f an o ffen ce and s h a ll be l ia b le on summary co n v ict io n s to a f in e not exceeding KEYSTi ten d o lla rs or imprisonment fo r a term not exceeding seven days, or both f in e and imprisonment.
