s o*/if- 54° SARCEE INDIAN BAND ADMINISTRATION R.R. 3, CALGARY, ALBERTA BUSINESS PHONE 281-4455 m THE SARCEE BAND OF INDIANS BY-LAW NUMBER 8 Being a By-Law of the Sarcee Band of Indians to provide for the prohibition of pollution of the public wells, cisterns,* reservoirs and other water supplies on the Sarcee Indian Reserve No. 145 WHEREAS paragraphs (1) and (r) of Section 81 of the Indian Act to make By-Laws of the Band respecting the construction and regulation of the use of public wells, cisterns, reservoirs and other water supplies, whether owned by the Band or by individual members of the Band. NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE SARCEE BAND OF INDIANS ENACTS AS A BY-LAW THEREON AS FOLLOWS: 1. This By-Law may be cited as a ’’Sarcee Indian Reserve Pollution of Waters Act". 2. In this By-Law "Sarcee Village" means that portion of the Sarcee Indian Reserve No. 145 as shown on the attached Plan to this By-Law. PURPOSE 3. It is the purpose of this By-Law to stipulate the construction, regulation and maintenance of the use of public wells, cisterns, reservoirs and other water supplies situated within Sarcee Village. 4. No person shall wilfully or maliciously pollute any public well, cistern, reservoir or other water supply within Sarcee Village.
5. No person shall destroy or injure any public well, cistern reservior or other water supply within the Sarcee Village. 6. The holder of a lease on a house within the Sarcee Village shall keep any well thereon properly enclosed or covered. 7. No person shall deposit into or on the ice of or on the shores of any waters lying within the Sarcee Village any nighsoil, garbage, manure, dead animal matter, decaying vegetable matter or any substance or substances which in any way contaminate such waters and tend to make the waters therefrom unfit for human, consumption. 8. Any person who violates any provision of this By-Law will be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction .to a fine not exceeding $100.00 or imprisonment for a terra not exceeding 30 days, or both fine and imprisonment. y.
