The Council of the Slaves of Upper Hay River Band of Indians at a meeting held this day of yfc ^ ^ t 1970 make the following by-law pursuant to paragraph (b) and paragraph (r) of Section 8o of the Indian Act. By-law No. 4 A by-law to provide for the regulation of driving licensing on the Indian Reserves of No. 207 Bushie River No. 209 Hay Lake 210 Zama Lake No. 211 Amber River No. 212 Upper Hay River 213 Bistcho Lake No. 214 Jackfish Point 1. In this by-law (a) "Council means the Council of the Slaves of Upper Hay River Band of Indians; (b) "Reserve means Indian Reserves No. 207 Bushie River No. 209 Hay Lake No. 210 Zama Lake No. 211 Amber River No. 212 Upper Hay River No. 213 Bistcho Lake No. 214 Jackfish Point; (c) "vehicle" means any wagon, cart, motor car, motor truck, trailer, motorcycle, traction engine, tractor, road-making machinery, power toboggan or other conveyance that is driven, propelled or drawn by any kind of power o 3 0 3t

No person shall operate a vehicle on the Reserve unless: (1) Such person is the holder of a subsisting operator's license issued by the Province of Alberta pursuant to the requirement of license provisions of the Highway Traffic Act, or (2) Such person is exempted by the provisions of the said Highway Traffic Act from the requirement of holding such an operator's license. 3. No person who is the owner of a vehicle shall operate or suffer or permit any other person to operate the vehicle on the Reserve at any time during which such person is not the holder of a subsisting certificate of registration issued pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act of Alberta unless such person is not required to be the holder of such a subsisting certificate of registration pursuant to the requirement of registration provisions of the said Highway Traffic Act. 4. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this by-law shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $100.00, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding thirty days, or both fine and imprisonment.
