ORIGINAL Chronological No: 2014.018 STONEY NATION COUNCIL RESOLUTION File Reference THE COUNCIL OF THE STONEY TRIBE — TERRITORY TREATY NUMBER SEVEN SOUTHERN ALBERTA PLACE MORLEY, ALBERTA DATE 1 MAY AD 2014 DAY MONTH YEAR WHEREAS the Stoney Tribal Council is empowered to act for and on behalf of the people of the Bearspaw. Chiniki and Wesley Bands: and WHEREAS the Stoney Tribal Council lias met in quorum at a duly convened meeting on the 1st day of May. 2014: and WHEREAS pursuant to subsection 83(1)(a) of the Indian Act, R.S.C. 1985. c. 1-5, the Council of a band may make by-laws for the purpose of taxation t'or local purposes of land, or interests in land, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in a reserve and with respect to any matter arising out of or ancillary to such purpose: and WHEREAS the Council of the Stoney First Nation enacted the Stoney Property Assessment and 7'cax By-law on July 9. 1992: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following by-law be and is hereby enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Indian Act and in particular section 83f I) for the purpose of establishing annual rates of Taxation. 1. This by-law may be cited for all purposes as the Stoney First Nation Tax Rates By-law 2014. 2. Pursuant to Section 11 of the Stoney Property Tax By-law, the rate of tax applied against the assessed value of property shall be, (a) for non-residential 1.50% (b) for machinery and equipment 0.85% 3. This By-law comes into force arid effect upon being approved by the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
