Minister of Indian Affairs Ministre des Affaires and Northern Development indiennes et du Nord canadien CANAOA 1, the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, HEREBY APPROVE, pursuant to section 83 of the Indian Act, the following by-law made by the Stoney Tribe (Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley Indian Bands), in the Province of Alberta, at a meeting held on the 25h day of April 1995 . STONEY PROPERTY TAX BY-LAW AMENDMENT PAGE 10F 2 VARIABLE TAXRATE BCR 1995-46 Page lof2 25th April 1995 STONEY PROPERTY TAX BY-LAW AMENDMENT Whereas the Stoney Tribe, which consists of the Bearspaw Band, the Chiniki Band, and the Wesley Band, has enacted a property tax by-law ("the By-law") pursuant to s. 83(1)(a) of the Indian Act; Whereas the By-law provides in s . 11 for a fixed tax rate of 3%; and Whereas it is deemed expedient and in the best interest of the Stoney Tribe to provide for a different tax rate for 1995 ; Now therefore the Stoney Tribal Council ("the Council"), being the joint Council of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley bands, at a duly convened meeting, enacts the following by-law amendment: 1 . Section 11 is amended to read as follows: 11 . There is hereby levied for the 1995 taxation year. (a) on all taxable land and interests in land held by a utility, a tax equal to 1 . 6 14% of the assessed market value of the lands or interests in land, or such rate as may be established from time to time by by-law; and (b) on all taxable land and interests in land that are not held by a utility, a tax equal to 1 . 61 4% of the assessed market value of the lands or interests in land, or such rate as may be established from time to time by by-law.

Proper notice of the meeting have been duly given and a quorum beingresent, the meeting Twoyoun9men was called to order at 1 :45 XxnA.M. by Chauman STONEY PROPERTY TAXBY-LAW 1, The Chairman advised the meeting that copies of a proposedStoney Property Tax By-law Amendment had previously been distributed to Chiefs andCouncil and that further copies of the draft by-law amendment were available for reading . reading of the 2 . Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimouslypassed, first Stoney Property Tax By-law Amendment was taken. 3 . Counsel to the Stoney Tribe, Doug Rae, then addressed themeeting on the particulars of the proposed by-law amendment. 4 . Following discussion and upon motion duly made, secondedand unanimously passed, -second reading of the Stoney Property Tax By-law Amendmentwastaken. S . Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed,third reading of the proposed Stoney Property Tax By-law Amendment was then authorized. 6. Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, thirdand final these reading of the Stoney Property Tax By-law Amendment in the form attachedto minutes was taken. 7. Upon further motion duly made, seconded and unanimouslypassed, the Administrator of the Stoney Tribe was directed to forthwith forward a truecopy of the Stoney Property Tax By-law Amendment to the Minister of Indian andNorthern Affairs and to do all such other acts necessary to bring the Stoney PropertyTax By-law Amendment into force.
