ALEXANDER FIRST NATION RATES BY-LAW 2020 WHEREAS pursuant to the Indian Act, R.S.C. 1985, and specifically paragraph 83( I )(a) of the Indian Act, 1985, c.l-5, the Council of a band may make by-Jaws for the purpose oftaxation for local purposes ofland, or interests in land, including rights to occupy, possess or use land in a reserve and with respect to any matters arising out of or ancillary to such purpose; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Alexander First Nation (also known as the Alexander Band) enacted the Alexander First Nation Property Assessment and Taxation By-law - 2011 on February 4, 20 II and approved by the Minister on March 21, 20 II; NOW BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the following by-law be and is hereby enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Indian Act, and in particular section 83(1) for the purpose of establishing annual rates of taxation. 1. This by-law may be cited for all purposes as the Alexander First Nation Rates By-law 2020. 2. Pursuant to Section 54 of the Alexander First Nation Property Assessment and Taxation By-law- 201 I, the tax rates for each class of property shall be in accordance with Schedule "A" which is attached, and forms part of the 2020 Rates By-law. THIS BY-LAW IS HEREBY DULY ENACTED by Council on the 21st day of July, 2020, at Alexander First Nation in the Province of Alberta . A quorum of Council consists of Four (4) members of Council. SCHEDULE "A" The Council of the Alexander First Nation hereby adopts the following taxation rates for the 2020 taxation year for the following classes of property. COLUMN I Class ofProperty as prescribed under Schedule II and Section 54 of the Alexander First Nation Property Assessment and Taxation By-law- 2011. In Reserve No. 134; Class 1 -Residential Class 2- Non-residential and linear property Class 3 - Fann land Class 4- Machinery and Equipment In Reserve No. 134A; Class I -Residential Class i-Non-residential and linear property Class 3 -Farm land Class 4-Machinery and Equipment COLUMN2 Rate of Tax applied against each $1,000.00 of the assessed value of the land and improvements as detennined in accordance with Part IV of the Alexander First Nation Property Assessment and Taxation By-law -2011. 23.4161 17.7480 13.4160 10.3944
